Kristy Gnibus is a mother, teacher and leader in our community. Raised by her mother – a Navy veteran and U.S. Postal worker – Kristy graduated from Seneca High School in Erie, Pa. and was the first in her family to attend college. During her sophomore year of college, Kristy was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She graduated from Mercyhurst University with a degree in education and later earned her principal certification from Edinboro University. Today, she is also completing her dissertation for her PhD. in Leadership at Gannon University. She also teaches at McDowell Intermediate School and raises her daughters, Josephine and Zoey. Kristy is also a Big Sister and an advocate for women and mental health. In addition to teaching and parenting Kristy works evenings as a bartender and occasionally drives for Uber.
