Mike McCaul, a Republican, has been serving as U.S. Representative for Texas's 10th
congressional district, since 2005.
McCaul earned a B.A. in history from Trinity University and his J.D. from St. Mary's
University. McCaul also completed the Senior Executive Fellowship at Harvard’s Kennedy
School of Government.
McCaul worked as an attorney and a federal prosecutor before entering politics. He ran for
the U.S. House of Representatives in 2004 and was elected.
In 2013 McCaul introduced a bill that required the Department of Homeland Security to
conduct cybersecurity activities on behalf of the federal government. He voted to ban
federal health coverage that includes abortion. He declared his intention to support Trump’s
border war in Mexico and to make sure that Mexico paid for the wall. In April 2019, McCaul
opposed a resolution to end US involvement in the civil war in Yemen. He voted against
requiring campaigns to report offers of assistance from foreign governments. In the 115th
Congress, McCaul voted in line with Trump 99% of the time. However, he led a bipartisan
revolt against Trump’s decision to pull U.S. forces from northern Syria. In addition, he
voted, against Trump, to require the Securities and Exchange Commission to conduct
testing of disclosures meant to protect Main Street investors.
McCaul is married to Linda Mays McCaul. She is the daughter of Clear Channel
Communications chairman Lowry Mays. McCaul’s net worth has been estimated at $294
